the book

As I am writing down these sentences (October 2024), I am working on initial plans for a book.

It was originally my intention to publish a book only after the first project travels, but at the moment something in me is whispering to me that it should not or cannot wait that much longer.

My intense research over the past few years has greatly broadened and deepened the focus of my project. I notice that I am now mostly focused  very different things than I was a few years ago, which is not surprising. My attention has gradually shifted, or broadened, from the usual ecological themes (greenhouse gases, energy transition, agriculture, mobility, etc) to the underlying belief structures that have brought us to the current critical tipping point.

As I explain in the expanded version of the story of my research over the past few years, I believe that only a particularly profound change in our beliefs and worldview can make us initiate the equally profound transformation of global civilization that is needed if we are to survive and leave a livable planet to our children and grandchildren.

As Albert Einstein put it, “Problems cannot be solved from the level of consciousness that created them."

Audre Lorde put it this way, “The master's tools will not tear down the master's house.”

So we will have to change our way of thinking, of perceiving, of sensemaking.

The provisional working title of the book is 'It's All Magic', named after the musings ‘It’s All Magic’ Part One and Part Two.

In the book, I want to link the content of my research so far with an interpretation of the new worldview or paradigm that is beginning to emerge in the latest developments in science.

To get an idea of the direction that that will take, you can read the pages with the short or the long account of my research so far.

The structure of the book will not necessarily reflect the chapters I have indicated on those pages, but the overall content will be highly correlated with what you can already read there.

I will be creating a longer version of this initial 'announcement' in the coming months, which will also include a future blog feed with posts related to the progress of the book project.
